You can vote by postal ballot in all municipalities in the country, e.g. at Citizen Service (Borgerservice). Remember to bring photo ID, such as a health card, driving licence, or passport.
You receive a blue envelope with a ballot for the municipal election and a yellow envelope with a ballot for the regional election. No one must see what you vote for. On the ballot, write the name of a party or a candidate standing in your municipality or region. If you wish to vote personally for a candidate, also write the party name or party letter. See the list of parties and candidates at the postal voting location or on your municipality's website.
Place the ballot papers in their respective envelopes and then sign the accompanying cover letter. The person who issued your ballot papers will then countersign, confirming that everything was conducted correctly.
Finally, place everything in one large envelope. The postal voting location will ensure the envelope is sent to your municipality.
If you vote by postal ballot, you cannot vote on election day. You can vote by postal ballot again if you wish to change your vote. It is the last postal vote that counts. The deadline for postal voting is Friday, 14 November 2025.
